But, all seriousness aside, I was in the camera store today, and
there was a guy who was trying out a Sony video cam that had an
adapter to take Nikon lenses. Or, I guess he already had the camera
& adapter and was trying out various Nikon lenses ...
Anyway, he said the adapter was to invert the image so it'd be right
side up when using still camera lenses??? What's with that?

No. He didn't know what he was talking about.
I used to use Nikkor and Leica lenses with my Bolex H16 Reflex. The
appropriate Nikkor to C-mount and L39 to C-mount adapter simply fitted
the lenses to the cine-mount flange and established the correct mount
register for the lens.
If the lenses are interchangeable, there will certainly be an adapter
that allows a Pentax K-mount or thread mount lens to be fitted.
