What Pentax has done that in the past? As far as I know only the 645n offer data imprinting and it does it on wind basically because it doesn't rewind the film at all. I can't see other solution are simpler from a design point of view. Firstly, in order to imprint all the data at exposure you need an array of data emitters instead of a single one like now. Secondly, if data was imprinted on wind it will reduce the FPS rate. Thirdly, doing it they way you suggest will ruin the film counter feature - films that's reloaded will be counted twice - not so now. So how the mid roll rewind would have been easier to implement with your suggestion is hard to comprehend. NOTE: the MZ-S DOES print the data on rewind. It has been tested out by me and others. Also, the Pentax data imprinting patent posted here awhile back explain the procedure. >Putting some kind >of sensor in the area of the imprinting to check the exposure of the frame >is much easier that trying to do one in the picture area you might have to >move out of the way when you need to shoot. It's the KISS principle. I'm sorry but after reading this ten times its still utterly incomprehensible to me. Pål - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
