What Pentax has done that in the past? As far as I know only the 645n offer
data imprinting and it does it on wind basically because it doesn't rewind
the film at all.
I can't see other solution are simpler from a design point of view.
Firstly, in order to imprint all the data at exposure you need an array of
data emitters instead of a single one like now. Secondly, if data was
imprinted on wind it will reduce the FPS rate. Thirdly, doing it they way
you suggest will ruin the film counter feature - films that's reloaded will
be counted twice - not so now. So how the mid roll rewind would have been
easier to implement with your suggestion is hard to comprehend.
NOTE: the MZ-S DOES print the data on rewind. It has been tested out by me
and others. Also, the Pentax data imprinting patent posted here awhile back
explain the procedure.

I'm sorry but after reading this ten times its still utterly
incomprehensible to me.
