We are surrounded with wildlife preserves and "Gray Lodge State
Wildlife Area", where state permits may be issued allowing duck,
goose and pheasant hunting and where I went earlier this AM. In all
the years I've been stalking "wildlife" in Gray Lodge, I've never
seen so many Snow Geese both on the water and in the air. I've
included a couple of goose flock shots and one (into the sun) of a
small group of Turkey Vulture

If you're on the East coast in winter, check out Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge on North Carolina's outer banks. It's one of the east coast wintering over spots for snow geese.

"Truly a ''birder's paradise,'' it is a haven for more than 265 species of birds such as Canada and snow geese, more than 25 species of duck, tundra swan, heron, egret, tern, and many other birds that pass through during fall and spring migrations."

Another location nearby is Lake Mattamuskeet which makes up most of Mattamuskeet National Wildlife Refuge - "Tundra Swans, Canada and Snow Geese, pintails, black ducks, and mallards"

There's a lot more to photograph in North Carolina than just Grandfather Mountain.

Comments certainly welcome.
