I couldn't give a crap about the TV advertising, just go somewhere else.
In general, that's how I deal with the "font sizes in pixels" crowd on
the web, too. Where it really chaps my hide is on the intranet at work.
I keep lodging defects against it and they keep ignoring them. But
it's hurting their "satisfaction" numbers, because I make sure they
don't get closed, so their defect count just goes up.
Where I work has a web site. I'd be willing to bet it sucks worse than
whatever you're dealing with on your intranet.
The thing I hate the most is roll-over drop down menus that drop down
and won't go away after you roll over them. You have to get somewhere to
the side of the page and click to get the drop down menu to go away.
They block the search box so you can't get to it.
Plus they've got too damn many teeny-tiny little hyper-links. It's like
if every word in the paragraph above was an individual hyper-link.
I have to deal with the web page in connection with customer service
returns because the customer can return an item ordered on-line to the
store, but they have to print out a return receipt from the web page.
Access is through a touch screen kiosk, although there's a small
trackball (about the size of a large marble) and one button included in
the keyboard for the kiosk, so you have absolutely abysmal control of
the pointer.
The thing couldn't be a bigger piece of crap and less user friendly if
all of our major and minor competitors had formed a committee to design
us a website with the specific purpose of driving our customers away.
