Like much of the global warming info, the solar storm impact is speculative. Does it merit concern? Of course. Is the sky falling? Probably not.

It was reported recently that contrary to a lame ass solar storm cycle peaking in 2012 as predicted, it look like it's going to be a historically ferocious one, capable of shutting down most satellites, maybe even the some electrical grids. And we only have two years to harden against it.

This was not from a kook, but a report on the science channel. 'Tis of some concern, sorta short term. The global warming thing will have to be put on simmer for a while.

Don't be silly. Global warming is causing MORE snow. Just look at Las
Vegas this week! ;-)

Sounds about right. The main model says weather systems will get more
chaotic.

Dry areas get dryer, wet areas get wetter, hot areas get hotter, cold areas get colder ... and if you live somewhere in between, you're in for extreme
swings.

Unfortunately for the climate modellers solar output went in the
shitter with the current solar cycle and all of the common models
assume a relatively stable solar output (since they're designed to
model earth-based changes to the climate). Nobody except the
historians have anything approaching an accurate idea of what's going
to happen to the climate if the current solar cycle stays on its
low-output course, or worse if the next Solar Cycle is similarly low). And the historical data presupposes a starting point distinctly warmer
than 2006/2007 (The Medieval Optimum Period which ended between 1200
and 1250AD with the start of the Little Ice Age).
