I've just started reading a fascinating book called The Time Traveller's
Guide to Medieval England, which lets me indulge in one of my favourite
pastimes on a cold winter's day: disappearing into the 14th century.

I was rather alarmed, however, to find myself in the company of a certain
Coterel, who was a notorious outlaw and bandit of the time, and had his very
own gang. I've found a website here which identifies this fellow as the
original for Robin Hood:

It's probably safe to say that having a murderous, butchering ancestor in
the 14th century will surely lead to the butchery and miscegenation of high
quality lenses 20 generations later.
