Subject: Shift in lens tone rendering

coating decays. Apparently this is truer of old lenses, or at least old
lenses have aged enough that we can now see the effects. Presumably the same
will happen over time to a modern lens that uses rare earth. Zenitar claims
to use rare earth; I don't know how many other lens makers use it.
