Sigma EX lenses are usually high quality. They are usually pretty expensive, too. I think that's what EX means, EXpensive. ;-) They are money savers compared to OEM glass of the same (or better) quality, usually.
Personally, I prefer the Tokina Pro glass, though sometimes, for the cost difference, you might as well go with good Pentax glass. My rule of thumb is, if the difference in price is 25% or less, I buy the Pentax glass. If the difference is more than 25%, I have to do more research before I buy the higher priced lens.
