Shel, Cotty, William, Bob and everyone, Thank you for such interesting advise and information. I have far less time than I thought to carry this out - my Uncle is a guest tonight and he intends to take them back, as he has family staying with him from tomorrow.
I will post a better reply later, but I am off to put this advice into immediate use. Luckily I stocked up with film before Xmas (and bought some C-41 black and white, for no other reason that I haven't used it in years).
