ideally, really good zoom lenses dont change focus when zoomed in or out. I guess this is a separate issue from AF focus errors vs focal length. I still dont understand why these pentax cameras dont auto focus all the lenses the same when the af sensing is in the body. The AF bodies need calibration/tweeking to every AF lens?

Pentax's recommendation for AF testing with a zoom lens is to do it at an intermediate focal length. But it sounds like you'll find it okay. Reports on this lens so far look favorable.
