This large area of open nothing is the biggest of our overseas
territories, which don't appear to be counted in the official statics:

And before anyone grumbles, the current Antarctic treaty recognizes
pre-treaty claims to territory.  USA and Russia cry foul and try to
ignore the territories, but they didn't make the sacrifices when
Antarctica was first being explored so they missed out.
