I find poppies confusing. There seem to be numerous types, and they don't have a lot in common. I have a hybrid oriental poppy with huge blooms that looks a lot like yours. I also have Icelandic poppies that look like the buttonier poppies that are sold in the U.S. on veterans day. And I've grown those wild California poppies, which are very slight and fragile.

I spent some time on the plane back to the US today
experimenting with red flowers in Lightroom.  The trick
seems to be decreasing the luminance in the red and orange
channels.  Previously I had played with saturation and
color temp, but luminance works a lot better and is easier.
