Thanks Aaron!

I'm going to try and test the 75 and new zooms via a friend at B&H in NY...

The 55-100 is a great lens for the following reasons:
1) ease vs primes.
I can get multiple shots from one lens without having to change positions,
pause, and alter lenses.

2) can take licks pretty well
2 drops (one into Essex Marsh Mud from 3 ft, one into India hardpan from 4
ft)
It's been mounted on one body for over 2 years now, and transported about
12000 miles in a pelican. No issues.

3) Glass : Hmm - actually fairly sharp for a zoom. boken is very nice
(better than the 165\2.8, which in my opinion is a knobbly dog) here are
some resulting scans from use in varied shooting styles.

and the disadvantages are

1) weight of camera with lens
1,210g for lens + 1,660g for body = about 3 kilos !

2) f4.5
all the primes in the ranges 75 - 105 are 2.4\2.8.... you loose a maximum of
2 stops when using this in low light

3) that's it!
