...sold the better-looking, but the best working stays. I need it... and tomorrow I'll take it for a change. I'd better get more film, just in case...

Reading your post made me think twice about selling the second Mx body. Too bad it's already shipped out... :-( At least I still have one. Guess I'll be taking it out tomorrow, instead of the Ds.

About a year and half ago, I guess, I loaned my MX to my wife's cousin
for a B&W course. He needed a metal, mechanical, manual camera and
already had a couple K-mount lenses. I didn't want to part with it,
but my K1000 was the only other camera I had that met his needs and
she has significant sentimental value. So the MX took a trip,
courtesy of the USPS.

After a couple months of nothing, I finally sent him a message asking
about the camera and he replied with something like "Meter doesn't
work, found a K1000 to use." So I replied with "Send it back and I'll
try to get it fixed." No response.

Fast forward a few months. Family gathering. He's going to be there.
"Bring the camera," says I. "Will do," says he. He doesn't.

A few months later, and another family event. His Mother is going to
be there. "Give it to your Mom." "OK, I will." He doesn't.

I gave up on ever seeing my preciousss again.

Last month. Wife's Grandmother's birthday party. He's there. He has
my camera! Sure enough, the meter doesn't work. The batteries were
inserted correctly, but the LEDs just flash randomly. I brought it
home and put it in the closet. "Maybe I'll send it off for a CLA."

Last week I got it out and put some film in it. Then I twisted the
aperture ring back and forth about 3 dozen times, really fast. And
now the meter works. 4 or 5 rolls later and I've decided to never
lend any cameras to anyone ever again. Ever.

I've apologized to the old girl a few times, and now she seems happy
to be, once again, nestled next to the K1000 in the Domke.
