This is absolutely weird. I can view it in Pentax Photo browser, with
Ifranview or as a thumbnail using the Windows PEF Codec. I get a CRC
failure when I attempt to copy the files. I haven't seen a file fail
with CRC failure for years. Especially one that can be read by /any/
program at all. I've run a file structure and hardware diagnostic on
the drive and there are no reported problems. So I have data files that
cannot be backed up with the standard copy utility.

Subject: Anyone have a utility to recover Corrupted PEF files?
I have at least a couple of PEFs from my K20D that cannot be opened
in Pentax Photo Lab. Anyone have knowledge of a utility that might
be able to recover them. I can't remember if they both came from the
same card or not, but I'm hoping it's the card and not the camera.
Can you view them on the camera review screen? If so, an easy fix
might be to process them in camera and take the resulting jpeg.

The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or
drinking; he can ruin himself with gambling. If he does he is certainly a damn
fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a
free man any more than a dog.
