A couple of friends of mine from dancing wanted to do a photoshoot today. I was looking forward to getting some more practice in my studio space, but they decided it would be more fun to shoot someplace more interesting than my backyard, so we wandered down to the Felton Covered Bridge.
Gwen has also asked me to teach her photography, so I've been teaching her some of the basics. The last time she visited she briefly played with my K100, but was a bit intimidated by all of the controls. Tiffany used to shoot with her mom's Minolta, though she said that unlike my SRT-101 it would stop down when metering, so she didn't need quite so much coaching. When we were down at the bridge, I gave them the K100 with DA40 and would let them play. I coached them a bit on exposure. We shot everything on manual exposure, as the goal was to help them learn. I did grab a few shots with the K100, mostly showing them how to do various things. There were some shots I would have liked to get using flash, but we never got around to it. One amusing sidenote, when I was packing the car for the shoot, I noticed that the door to my shed would make a nice backdrop. So while we were waiting for Tiffany to put on her makeup I did some quick test shots of Gwen using it as a backdrop.
