The K20 and I assume the K10 will set the proper shutter speed depending on the Mode Dial, the Green Setting will even do that with a late model AF280T as well as setting the proper aperture on an A class lens for the red or green setting.

I was trying to shoot family portraits for my ex mother in law today,
so I put my flash on the k10d and for some reason it would not fire.
The flash will fire when I put it on the *ds but It won't fire on the
k10d. I have the af-360fgz. flash. Naturally I cannot find the
book for the camera or the flash. Any ideas? I am charging my
battery for the camera just in case it didn't have enough juice to
fire the flash, but I don't really think that could be the problem.
And yes it would be lovely to go by the newest addition to the Pentax
family, but I am unemployed so that is not an option. jg

First thing that comes to mind is sync speed. If you've got the shutter speed set above sync speed the flash won't fire.

I don't think the K-10D automatically switches to sync speed when the external flash is installed, and IIRC, the *ist-D (and by inference the *ist-DS) did.

Or maybe there's somewhere in the custom settings to turn that on and off. If so, I didn't find it in a quick search.

As far as the manuals, download a copy from Pentax USA's web site and keep it on your computer. I keep my manuals in the bag with the camera just in case, but I have misplaced one or more from time to time.

I use the copy on the computer whenever that happens.
