John, Good for you! The best opportunities are those we create for ourselves. I attended a small presentation by a local nature photographer some months ago. He is an excellent naturalist and very knowledgable. All his photos were native Illinois shots within easy driving distance of my house. (No trips to the Tetons necessary.) I wanted to pick his brain for sites and times. He mentioned a patch of prarie in the town I grew up in was about to bloom. It's amazing what you can find if you pay attention. Regard, Bob S.
