Airport Express has one ethernet port and one USB port.

can you be more specific? you wrote about troubles with an old PowerBook, but didn't say how that meant trouble for PCs ...

fwiw, i've seen lots of non-Macs connect to Airport wireless routers without trouble; we do it every day in my office, where an XP laptop and two Linux laptops (along with four Macs and several phones with wifi) share an Airport Extreme/n, and the BIL who just moved out after 22 months on our couch used his XP laptop on our home wifi (Airport Extreme/g plus Airport Express/g as WDS remote)
