This is why you put up nest boxes for owls.  A thriving population of
Great Horned Owls (if you can get them) will keep down the squirrels
*and* the skunks but not present a risk to people. (Possibly cats, but
pet cats should live inside anyway.  Small yappy dogs we speak not of.)
