I've been using LR 2.6 for a while on my 2gig Macbook. I love love love the software, but lately I've been noticing that it's been sluggish. I thought maybe it might have had something to do with the 60,000 image library, or the fact that I'm only shooting RAW these days.
This weekend, I dropped $100 to upgrade my laptop from 2 gigs of RAM to 4. WOW. Night and day. Snappy snappy snappy performance - imports are fast, previews are generated almost immediately, and the switch from view to edit to crop is instantaneous. Wow. So - if you've noticed your LR slowing down, or think it could be quicker, let me suggest packing as much RAM into your system as it will take.
