About 10 years ago I had an old IBM Selectric at my house. My kids

asked, "Where's the screen?"
It occurred to me that she didn't know what a typewriter was; she'd
never seen one before. I proceeded to put a sheet of paper in and
show her how it worked. "It's all in real time - no screen, hit the
key and the letter appears immediately on the paper."
She had a ball with it! (pun intended - it was a Selectric, after
all...), until she made a mistake and asked, "Daddy, where's the
delete button?"

Hell, I had/have correction tape in my Royal manual typewriter. You
