Dumb, Stupid Epson Printing Question

I'm starting to delve into the world of fancy printing papers. Up to now 
it's been greasy kid stuff.
Anyway, if the paper manufacturer calls for matte black ink and I am running 
photo black ink, does it realy make that much difference?
