Actually IIRC most of the modern idea of Santa Claus comes from "T'was The Night Before Christmas" Coca-Cola expanded upon the description for its famous ad campaign. By skinny Santa I'm assuming you mean Saint Nicholas who visits Dutch children every year after arriving by ship from his home in Spain. St. Nick proved to be so different than Santa that I snapped a picture of him in a Amsterdam department store with the K1000 with a M50 f2 in 1991 .
