A few years ago, I saw an article on slashdot about taking low resolution video and using it to extract a high resolution still image.

It seems to me that for really seamless stitching of a pano, the trick would be to take a video of panning a scene, and do some processing to turn that into the high resolution panorama. (hmm, I never considered the etymology of "panning" before).
