Hi Gabriel:
I am going to tell you the method I have used to clean slightly dirty
focusing screens, with success. Disclaimer: Don't do this if you are a
faint-hearted person. Try it first, if possible, in an old focusing
screen, to acquire some practice.
Dismount the focusing screen of your MZ-S. I won't describe how, as you
seem to be aware of this.
Take the focusing screen by the tab, pre-wash it with some distilled
water, then drop a small drop of dishwasher, a mild one; and wipe it
GENTLY with your fingers. When the dirt has been removed, wash the soap
away with distilled water. Why distilled water? Because if your tap
water contains lime, a very common occurrence, you will have deposits
left when your screen is dry.
And, dry it using a clean microfiber cloth. Don't rub it on the screen
to dry it, be patient and dry the screen by putting it gently into the
microber cloth. Repeat this until the screen is completely dry. Blow the
possible dust away from the screen by using a compressed air tin or a
blowing brush, before putting the screen back on the camera.
Good luck,
