that's a koan: if you meet your intent in the road, kill it

in many branches of buddhism, "egoless art" is considered a practice whose realization, as in meditation, cannot come from striving

but there is still a strong sense of upliftedness which can come from beautiful things around us, and there is a value in creating upliftedness, especially for others

i would perhaps treat "intent" in your definition of art as a reasonable placeholder for a broader concept; at the moment i can't quite put words to that concept, however
