Do the push-pull-twist zoom/focus rings help these lenses be any better in tune than the average trombonist?

it means the zoom ring and the focus ring are separate. Some lenses, such as
the 70-210/4, use the same ring for both - to zoom you push/pull like a
trombone, to focus you twist
