Hi Jack: Well, if I were to remove the print, I would probably take an exacto knife and gently cut in the groove where the backing board and frame meet. I'm unaware of any other "clue." The tape is there to keep dust out etc. It's used intead of the tradition brown paper often attached to the entire back of the frame. Cheers, Christine

Mine arrived yesterday. How do you open this frame to remove the matted print? Haven't removed the tape 'yet' in case that hides a clue.
