You can fake less DoF but not more. The popular 'miniature effect' is
what John was referring to, not the more constructive use of the
Scheimpflug effect to increase DoF.

-Adam

The other scheimpflug EMULATION - Helicon Focus - uses multiple exposures with the plane of sharp focus shifted between exposures, then combines them in Helicon Focus (or Photoshop) with layer masks revealing the area of DoF you're interested in.

_____.__F_____.
___.__F____.___
_.__F___.______
__F__._________
F_.____________

And because for a given aperture, as focus approaches infinity, DoF increases, when all the images are combined, it gives the appearance of that wedge shaped area of acceptable focus characteristic of view camera tilt/swing.

It's bracketing DoF instead of EV.

It's not perfect, but it does work.

Much easier to do with the Helicon Focus software, but it can be done in Photoshop.
