Thank you, Daniel!

The place was crawling with conventionally "pretty" girls, but this one just had one of those faces that screamed at me to capture it. The fact that she was shy is communicated in her suppressed smile, which I really liked. I'm horrible at judging ages, but I would guess this girl is in her awkward teens, which made it extra gratifying that she allowed me to take the shot.

Thanks again,

Walt

  Hi all,

Went to a local BBQ festival yesterday and took some snapshots. I saw this
young lady standing in line at one of the booths and was thought I'd try my
hand at street portraiture along the lines of Danny Santos. It's clearly
not up to his standards, but I thought it wasn't too shabby as a first
attempt. She was a much more interesting looking girl than the photo
indicates. As the title indicates, she had alabaster skin and coal black
hair, along with bright blue eyes. She didn't resist at all when I asked.
She actually seemed pleased, if a little embarrassed.

Up until now, I've been extremely hesitant about just walking up to people
and asking them if I can photograph them. Turns out, people are much more
willing than I ever would've believed.

Comments, critiques, and cash gifts welcome.
Looks a bit dark on my uncalibrated screen but still, just a lovely
portrait. Those eyes are nice and sharp, lovely softness at the edges
of her face. That very OOF face in the background really adds a feel
of mystery.

A winner!

cheers,
frank
