The only filters that I feel are necessary/useful in the digital world are Neutral Density filters (for those times you want longer shutter speeds at equiv. apertures or gradient NDs) and maybe polarizers. Other than that, you can do the filter-thing for various B&W enhancements with a post-processing product like Nik Software's Silver Efex Pro.
