Eric, I've used two TC's: A2X-S and F 1.7X AF, both mostly for "macro" (or close-distance) shots.

However, since I got my hands on the 1.7X AF, I prefer it. The AF adds some convenience. (E.g. I tried it recently in Sydney with Rob's 300/2.8, while shooting surfers and it was nice! - I hope to use the upcoming break to work on the photo backlog.)
