I found that highlight correction yields quite a bit more overhead, but I haven't really needed it. I don't test, but I do shoot a lot. And after shooting more than 1000 frames with the k-5, I find that I almost never encounter a histogram that touches the edges of the scale in either direction, so I have plenty of latitude to work with.
