I've been wanting to get a ball head for my tripod. The two I have
are rudimentary and awkward to adjust. I've had my eye on this one --
Manfrotto Compact Ball Head 496 with RC2 Rapid Connect Plate -- and
now I see that Adorama has it for $29 with a $50 rebate through
mid-January.
I'm on a tight budget. Not yet a "pro." Those two facts in mind, any
opinions about this ball head?
I've used (and still occasionally use) the 486RC2 this ball head
replaces. It's a good head, but somewhat small.
$29 after the rebate is a damn good price.
I actually prefer the 488RC2 which is replaced by the Manfrotto Midi
Ball Head 498 with RC2, but that retails for $50 more ... puts you right
back up where you were with the "496 with RC2" before the rebate.
