Did you use the flash to get that effect on the snowflakes in the
foreground? Or is that just from the streetlights?

Yup (ann points to EXIF data link on the caption area) used flash.
Glad ya like it -- I think I thanked the others who did already)
I rarely shoot with flash. took about 5 shots. had to clone out a
rectangular "snowflake"
a bright store sign in the distance - but other than that it is just as
shot - with a tiny bit of cropping.
I tried to load it up for the Annual - but got stuck.
I still lick my chops over the lack of noise at 1600 that the D gives me...
