that's the "same thing" in the sense that bird eggs and kangaroo pouches are the same thing; i'm not a purist nor very interested in tilt/shift, but i do know Photoshop can't vary the focus distance according to position on the sensor, it can simulate out-of-focus, but it can't _simulate_ in-focus
