Well, it was bad but it could have been much worse.

The large cities of Cairns and Townsville missed the worst of it but it
devastated smaller places like Mission Beach, Tully and Cardwell. A lot
of the banana and sugar crops have been wiped out for the second time
(Cyclone Larry in 2006 did it first time around - not named after our
Larry as far as I know....)

So far, no reported fatalities or serious injuries.

Yasi is still active almost 24 hours later.  Now a category 1 cyclone,
it will be stirring up Mt Isa in central Queensland in an hour or two.
