Ok, this does NOT make me a true believer. Good film work still surpasses DSLR work while good digital work is also useful. Each has its advantages and disadvantages.
============================= DSLR/DigitalDarkroom: ------------------------------ Hardware & software cost more. Hard to get a good, full gray scale. Really hard. It most always looks like 3 zones. Take off the lens, let in some dust, and pretend cloning actually recovers the lost data. Shoot to your heart's delight. Then spend hours sorting through them. LF (4x5/8x10): ------------------------------ Takes up more basement space. And water. You don't always have to enlarge. Contacts are often outstanding. Cumbersome hardware. Time to invest in a horse. Sometimes I just don't have enough film holders. Each shot requires serious consideration. But then you don't have to worry about throwing away bad shots. You know what each shot is before you take it. ============================= Ok, I've ignored roll film. ============================= Sincerely, Collin Brendemuehl http://kerygmainstitute.org "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose" -- Jim Elliott -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
