PJ, "vog" (after "fog" and "smog") is air pollution caused by volcanic
discharges, in this case from Kilauea.  It can be nasty stuff in large
doses, but in moderate concentrations it can cause unusual and
beautiful sunsets.  This one was in Kailua Kona, on the west coast of
the Big Island, on the opposite side of the island from the active
volcano.
