I'm sure with me it is more than (the lack of) calibration on the computer... I have every light in my apartment on when I'm up and leave a couple on in another room when I retire so I can get to the bathroom safely.

Is your monitor calibrated?

I saw a soft dark kinda-purple night image, with buildings halfway up the mountain that had some lights installed.
Anyone who saw it all-black probably has their monitor nowhere near calibrated. 
 Sad, really.
