Fred, The FA24/2.0 is a modern lens, light and airy in feel. Unlike the A20/2.8, you won't be able to put it on your LX and bash any potential muggers. <g>
I would guess the build quality might be less that you are used to. The tulip hood is plastic. The window on the distance scale is plastic too. And the wide focus ring snaps forward and back for autofocus or not. The real problem is probably density. You're a big glass guy <g>, and this lens will feel light to you for it's size...probably due to the internal focusing. But like I said, the results are superior. I find 24mm is sufficiently wider than 28mm to give a different look outside and get you out of jams indoors. For most situations, the FA24/2.0 goes along before the A20/2.8. Regards, Bob S. Good enough for us "hard core manual focus guys"? If I paint it black (just kidding - <g>), can I imagine it being a recently discovered SMC "K" 24/2 lens or something? When I want something wider than 28mm, I generally reach for the A 20/2.8. (The A 16/2.8 Fisheye and the A 15/3.5 are too often left at home, unless I know in advance that I may want/need one of 'em, while the A 20/2.8 portable enough to be with me often.) So, is this lens good enough, Bob, for me to actually snub the 20/2.8 sometimes? (Ya know, that 20/2.8 has been getting kinda cocky lately...) >> - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
