Well, Butch, it is difficult to say exactly what the changes in SMC
treatments were, since Pentax has never really provided details on
SMC treatments.  Of course, Pentax has been changing SMC details for
decades now, and generally the changes are assumed to be for the
better.  In the case of the M-to-A differences, some of the A lenses
might provide a slightly warmer color than their M counterparts (or
maybe it was that the M lenses were a little cooler.  It also
appears as if there may have been a slight improvement in contrast,
M-to-A. However, the sizes of these sort of differences are probably
fairly small.
