HI Peter: Sometimes if you zoom in tight with a telephoto lens, excluding any white backgrounds, you can get a better reading with the spot meter. Still, that's a tough shot to make. Flash fill can help, or you have to dial in 2 extra stops of EV. Cheers, Christine

Notes: My major peeve about the K20D is it's tendency to seriously underexpose when photographing almost anything against a bright background. In this case I dialed in 1 1/3 stops of extra exposure and I still had to really push to get any detail at all in the bird it's nest and the field lights.
