Probably the result of days and days of rejected designs until this one appeared...;>)

Doug,

Once upon a time, not so very long ago, I reccall there being two PDML
archives, one of which went back into the 1990s. Is the farther-back
one
now defunct?

Rick

Sorry I missed this, Rick. The mail-archive.com archive dates back to
when I
took over the list, during the Winter of 2000-2001.

When we moved to the current host, in 2006, I didn't carry over a local
archive, since we were pretty well established on mail-archive by then.
There may be a little gap there around that time, due to propagation and
merging issues, but it's pretty complete.

This brings up something I'd like to ask The List about. When in April
we
had to move to another server, our hosting company realized we were
occupying a largish amount of server real estate, and told me it would
cost
an extra ten bucks a month to continue to house the archives.

At the time I told them to go ahead, but it's stayed in my mind, given
that
the mail-archive space gets far more traffic, so let's put it to a vote.
Do
we want to keep the local archive, or not? Let me know here or off-list.

Now would also be a good time to chunk a couple bucks toward the PDML
fund,
if you'd like. It's certainly not required, but will help offset some of
the
costs.

Also, I don't think anyone cares one way or the other, but yes, I'm
still
here. If you follow me on FB, you know I'm about to disappear into the
time-sink that is grad school, but will continue to monitor.

Carry on, then.
