Brian,
You noted the low traffic on the train line, and
didn't you say the train only stopped if you phoned ahead?
Think about the time before phones, we had a different practice in the USA.
We had a semaphore signal or flagpole where you showed you wanted a stop.
The locomotive engineer saw the signal and brought the train to a stop.
I don't see anything like that at Olary, not even remnants.
Am I missing it?
