I agree. That's a very powerful image.
When you see someone homeless in a Toronto winter, you can be pretty
sure that it's not because they thought it would be fun. One aspect of
living in Santa Cruz is the number of homeless who are just kids camping
out because it's more fun to smoke dope and camp in the woods than it is
to go to school, get a job whatever. Something that I didn't truly
appreciate until my ex-wife moved a tribe of homeless kids into my house
while we were separated.
Cleaning up after I got them out of the house was an interesting chapter
in my life. As far as I can tell, it was one of them, or one of their
friends that broke in and stole the Pentax gear that I got from my
father. I still miss the Series 1 70-210, though as much as I miss the
fire agate ring made by my father that was my college graduation present.
