And yes . . . a Promaster. Some seem to think it's a re-badged Tamron, and it does bear a striking resemblance:

I wasn't crazy about it after I first got it, but it seems to be a much better match for the K100D than the K-x. And it takes surprisingly sharp images.

I thought it was reasonably sharp considering it was zoomed out to 260mm
and maximum aperture for that range. Plus, it provides fodder for the
japery of that one guy.
