Right - thanks. What I meant to say was a ham's on-air ID.
I've never been there or done that, but back before international
telephones, the only way we could "call" someone across the country
(Paraguay or Bolivia) or back home in the States was via short wave, and so
I would go with my parents to a ham's home and watch while they used him as
a relay.
