FA 20-35/ might be what your are looking for, if you want a slim high
quality zoom lens lens with AF. Godfrey used to refer it as "four
primes in one lens". IMO he is right. I have it, and I really love it.

The two things against it is prize and availability.

If you want something cheaper, then look for a regular 18-55 kit lens.

If you need something slimmer, then get a pan cake prime, and pretend
it's a zoom.
